| There were 3 layers of floors where the Church had stood, each layer was a foot or 2 above the other. |

| The Jordan river is 100 yards up and to the left. It was
connected to John the Baptist spring. The Jordan is so much shallower because, upstream
they are using almost all of it to irrigate the Jordan river valley. |

| The Jordan river is only 30 feet wide now. This reduction in flow has
caused much of the Dead Sea to evaporate. It is down 60 feet from its ancient levels. They may pump salt water from the Red Sea to the Dead Sea and add 60 feet over the next 20 years. |
